“One small way I am planning to reset for the new year is by learning how to make matcha in my apartment. Soon after starting my full-time job, matcha became a life-saver for me in regards to staying caffeinated, but not feeling the negative effects I sometimes feel after drinking coffee. Not only does matcha have natural caffeine, it is also said to improve gut health, boost immunity, clear skin, and enhance memory and focus. I have a feeling that getting into the routine of making matcha in the mornings may help with boosting both my productivity and mood as well.”

“I am a huge advocate for feeling good from the inside out. No matter how you really look on the outside, you always feel 100 times more confident and comfortable in your own skin when you treat your body with kindness. With that said, I plan to reset my eating habits as we enter 2021. I’ve always loved a good sweat sesh, but my sweet tooth has often offset many of my efforts to lead a truly healthy lifestyle. Now, I know I’ll never be able to forego chocolate for good, but I’ve set a plan to keep unhealthy eating to a minimum. My number one tip? Write everything down. I don’t mean in terms of calories and nutrients, but designate a notebook to simply write down each food you’ve eaten throughout your day. There’s something about seeing all of your snacks on paper that leads you to stray away from impulsive eating habits. I’ll also be drinking a LOT more water in the new year and will be tracking that too!”

“Going into the new year, I want to make a conscious effort to not use my phone before going to bed or right when I wake up. I used to to be really good about this, but since graduating (and downloading TikTok) I find myself on my phone a little too much. By not using my phone during these times and doing something else, like reading, I’m hoping to improve my sleep and start my day on the right foot”.

“One thing I want to get in the habit of doing from the very beginning of 2021 is walking. When I was in college and living in New York City, I walked everywhere. I easily got in my 10,000 steps per day, and it didn’t even feel like a lot because I was used to walking through campus and the city. Especially on campus, with no other mode of transportation, I had no choice but to walk everywhere. Now, since I am living at home with my family, I drive most places. So, on top of whatever workout I am doing each day, I want to make sure I get out for a walk as well. It is such a great time to recharge by getting fresh air and listening to a podcast or music. I am embarrassed of my 4,000-steps days, and want to make sure I am walking way more in 2021 for my mental and physical health.”

“For Christmas, I was given a beautiful Karst notebook, and if anyone knows me personally, they know I love stationery and journals so much. While we were all stuck at home this past year, I began to explore the process of journaling and implemented it into my morning routine. I’m excited to fill this new journal with career-centric prompts to track my goals, ideas, advice, and lessons I’ve obtained in 2021!”

“I’ve always been a skincare junkie, but 2020 has for sure been the year to kick it up a notch, especially with all of the mask-wearing. I just recently started incorporating a retinol into my nighttime routine to increase cell turnover rates (i.e. bring out that glow we're all searching for). I know it’s not 2021 quite yet, but let’s just say that I’m getting a head start!”

“For the new year, I wanted to share a fitness tip. I'm a longtime distance runner and former cross country athlete. Resolutions regarding running or getting in shape are quite common every year, and while they're made with the best of intentions, it can be hard to really stick with it. What I've found to be helpful is to just start by putting on exercise clothes. If you're wearing the proper attire, it can help boost motivation. The next step is to just get outside. Simply tell yourself you're going out for a walk, and once you're moving it becomes easier and easier to continue moving and move to the next step of running. Even if you only run a short distance or at a slow pace, all running is good running. Set small, easy to accomplish goals for yourself. Pretty soon, you'll find that you're not only just able to meet them, but able to break them as well. Running is something you can do almost anywhere and is a great way to stay in shape!”

"My plans for resetting in 2021 are to ultimately create a new routine for myself. From getting to bed earlier to eating healthier and making time to do the things I love (i.e. going for walks in the afternoon, going to local coffee shops more, and reading more frequently), I think that this will help me feel more productive as a whole."
