Not Your Mother's Wardrobe

… well, actually, yes it is.

We all know that fashion trends are cyclical, as most of the “street style” looks that we see today have been seen before - cue the rise of thrifting.  If you’re lucky enough to have a mother who is anything like mine, you have a closet readily available to you with many of the vintage pieces that you’d spend hours digging through piles at your local consignment boutique looking for. I’m going to be styling some of my favorite vintage pieces from my mom’s closet that can easily be incorporated in your own wardrobe today. Even if this isn’t the case for you, and your mother cleans out her closet on a regular basis, let this be a bit of inspiration as you head to the thrift store and dig away.

#1: The Oversized Blazer

I know you’ve seen this look before. One of the most-worn pieces by your favorite influencers, the oversized blazer can be paired with nearly anything from biker shorts and miniskirts to high rise, straight leg jeans.

#2: The Mini Skirt

The mini skirt could possibly be my favorite on this list. A classic piece that never goes out of style, rock this versatile gem with sneakers, pumps or riding boots.

#3: The Baby Cardigan

Cropped cardigans are a hot commodity these days. If you can find one, pair it with jean shorts or a tiered skirt. Maybe even pop open a few buttons if you’re feeling scandalous.

#4: The Vintage Denim

While old-school jeans may be tough to incorporate into your own wardrobe, you’re likely to find a denim jacket or skirt that might just work. In my case, I found this amazing white set from Calvin Klein and another vintage denim vest.

#5: The Windbreaker

Casual chic - ‘80s style. Throw on a vintage windbreaker like this one with a pair of athletic shorts for the perfect comfy-cool outfit for running errands or traveling to and from the gym.
