First, tell us a little bit about your journey with makeup.

My journey with makeup started around the beginning of middle school. Makeup wasn’t really something I enjoyed, but rather something I used as a mask to hide my insecurities. It wasn’t until the moment I began to experience self growth that makeup then became a form of art. I realized makeup shouldn’t be used as a disguise, but as a tool which helps me express my individuality. Portraying my ideas on my bare skin quickly turned into meditation. When my life became chaotic, I turned to makeup as a way to block out the outside world. Because of this, doing makeup went from being a day-to-day hobby to something I’m immensely passionate about.

What is the inspiration behind your candy land makeup look?

My inspiration behind the “Candy Look” was actually based on trick or treating. Halloween is around the corner and everyone seemed to do looks involving gore or violence. But, since blood wasn’t really my “thing,” I decided to go down a different route and do more of a bubbly and vibrant look, helping me stand out from others.

What tips can you give to anyone looking to recreate the perfectly blended rainbow eye in your candy land makeup look?

I would love to share some of my tips to anyone looking to recreate my look. First, try packing on the product before blending so the pigmentation is still there. Blending it out will only blur the color, preventing it from showing through. When you are packing on the product, use a mini flat brush to help you build up the product. After packing on the shadow, use a mini fluffy brush to combine and blend out the colors you picked for your eyes. Try playing around with different colors so the look isn’t too monotonous, but rather more on the colorful side.
