Feel Good with The Ordinary

Whether it be from beauty tiktokers or the rave reviews on Sephora, you’ve probably heard about The Ordinary. Their medical approach to skincare is considered “revolutionary” as they focus on providing effective products at a super low price (all products are pretty much under $10). The Ordinary’s medical approach comes with no frills packaging, one of the reasons the products are able to be so cheap, but can be overwhelming if you don’t know what ingredients like niacinamide are. That’s why I’ve decided to break down some of my favorites products from The Ordinary that I know you’ll love!

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

This is a newer product for me but it’s quickly become one of my favorites. The Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% is designed to target breakouts, minimize pores, and manage the skin's oil production to prevent blackheads and blemishes. I can’t stress this enough, this stuff is a miracle worker. To use, apply to clean skin after toners and water-based serums, morning and night.

AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

This is arguably one of The Ordinary’s more popular products. Not only for its amazing results but also for its fun, red color that makes you look like you tried one of the famous vampire facials. To use, apply once a week to clean, dry skin for no more than ten minutes each. The high percentage of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) makes this facial intense! So if you’re new to using acids I would start with five minutes and work up to more time. That being said, this product gets results! My skin is noticeably smoother and brighter days after using. If you’re looking for a great, heavy duty exfoliant to add to your skincare routine, this is the product for you.

Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution

If you read my “Self-Care Necessities to Get You Through Quarantine” article then you’ll know I love chemical exfoliants, and in particular, I love this product. The Glycolic Acid Toning Solution was one the first products from The Ordinary I purchased; it’s a gentle toning solution that offers mild exfoliation to boost radiance, help clear pores, and regenerate collagen. To use, apply to clean skin with a cotton pad, once a day.

Mandelic Acid 10% + HA

This product is actually one my boss recommended to me when I was complaining about problems with my skin’s texture, and I’m so glad she did! This formula offers a gentle, superficial peeling. It’s great for all skin types, including sensitive, as the larger molecular size makes it gentler than other acids. Seriously, I have slightly sensitive skin and I have never had a problem with this product. To use, apply to clean skin every night or every other night.
