Speaking with the Founders of Hi Point(e): The Most Effective Way to Feel the Burn

As the C&W co-founders entered the Zoom room, we were filled with excitement and high energy from Tehya and Maya, the masterminds behind Hi Point(e), a new fitness class you need to try.

Maya started the 30-minute class with a warmup and went right into some killer ab exercises. Around 12 minutes into the class, Tehya came onto the screen with some of the most difficult but rewarding exercises around. Maya then finished off the class with more encouraging words as our muscles shaked. “Keep it moving! Trust yourself. Give it your all!” The next day, we were sore in all of the right places and were ready to book another class. The accessibility and positive energy that radiated from the instructors throughout the workout makes Hi Point(e) C&W approved without a doubt!

After the class, we spoke with Tehya and Maya Frank, a sister duo currently based in Los Angeles, on their new business venture, Hi Point(e). By blending pilates and dance, these sisters are taking over the digital fitness space with incredible workout classes that allow you to feel the burn safely with personalized corrections at an unbeatable price.

Tehya spent her teenage years as a professional dancer training at School of American Ballet at Lincoln Center, then continuing at companies including Alvin Ailey and American Ballet Theatre. Maya has been in numerous Broadway shows including Mary Poppins, Evita, and Les Miserables.

Tell us a little bit about yourselves and your fitness backgrounds.

Growing up between New York City and Los Angeles with professional dance and Broadway careers, we always needed to keep our bodies strong to get through eight shows a week. As sisters we have a built-in workout partner; Maya’s fantastic playlists and killer cardio bursts paired with Tehya’s flexibility make each workout fun, motivating, and effective.

Both of us are certified Pilates instructors and have trained with an Olympic rhythmic gymnast. We have spent years teaching professional athletes and humans alike, finding the perfect balance between a good challenge and a safe way of moving. Maya is constantly searching for innovative ways to get “surfer abs” without actually going surfing and Tehya is constantly developing new ways to workout while lying down. See? The perfect balance.

We all need to know - what is Hi Point(e) all about?

Hi Point(e) is the most effective way to feel that burn we all crave by moving effectively for a short amount of time. The Hi Point(e) Method has the foundation of Pilates that is lengthening and toning paired with the strength and posture that is dance.

What makes Hi Point(e) workout classes different from others?

We keep classes small, so we can make corrections to help you instantly activate your abs, ass, and arms. Also, we created Hi Point(e) as a space that can be accessible for all, you shouldn’t need to spend $30 for an amazing exercise class.

What types of classes do you offer?

Group Classes: Capped at 8 students, weekly offering, sign up in advance because spots go quickly.

Workout Squad: Book a custom workout with your friends no matter where they are in the country or world. Get your sweat on  with your squad during your virtual happy hour!

Privates: Run for 45 minutes, targeting your goals one-on-one.

Mini Privates: Our most popular during Work From Home life - 15 minutes of specifically focused movement on your abs, ass, arms, cardio, strength, or length. So, if you’ve got a break between meetings or classes and want to fit in a workout, we’ve got you covered.

What is the advantage of holding classes digitally?

We have actually both been teaching classes digitally for the past two years, so when we are in New York City we can reach students on the West Coast and vice versa. Thus, the shift to holding classes through Zoom amongst the pandemic did not change our teaching style.

How does signing up for a class work?

You can check out www.theyasisters.com/booking to sign up for our weekly classes - we recommend you sign up in advance because classes cap at eight people! You can also sign up at that link for privates, mini-privates, and happy-hours with your workout squad.

Keep up with us on instagram @HiPointe for announcements of additional classes.

Right now we are running a promo: use the code Newbie for your first two classes free or for $10 off of Privates, Mini-Privates, or Workout Squads for two sessions.

Whatever you choose to sign up for we are so excited to meet you on the mat and move together. We can’t wait to see you at Hi Point(e).
