Halloween Movie Locations You Can Visit IRL

Halloween movies transport us to the most some of the most interesting and magical places imaginable.  While many of these fictional worlds are constructed on a Hollywood soundstage, the following locations are 100% real and accessible to the public.  Get ready to plan your trip!  You will feel like you are a character in your favorite spooky flick.

The Woods in The Blair Witch Project

The famous forest of this cult classic is located at Seneca Creek State Park in Maryland.  There’s nothing particularly creepy about these woods, but you may still want to avoid going at night if you get spooked easily.

St. Helen’s, Oregon is home to the 1998 Disney classic.  Every October, the town is transformed for “The Spirit of Halloweentown,”  a month-long festival dedicated to the filming of the movie.  The town organizes fun events and recreates portions of the movie that bring out nostalgia in all of us.

The Sedgewick Hotel wasn’t actually located in New York City.  This was one of the few filming locations that directors chose to shoot in Los Angeles that was not on a soundstage.  The Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles has been featured in many films from 10 Things I Hate About You to Pretty in Pink to Ocean’s 11 and is still just as beautiful as it looked in Ghostbusters.

The Devil’s Kettle Fall where Jennifer is sacrificed is located in Judge C.R. Magney State Park in Grand Marais, Minnesota, just minutes from the Canadian border.  There is a real mystery behind the waterfall: nobody knows what happens to the water on the west side.  It seems to fall into a deep hole and disappear forever.
