Hamptons Hacks for the Perfect End of Summer Getaway

The Hamptons is the PERFECT spot for a summer getaway. Boasting beautiful beaches, outdoor restaurants, luxurious shopping...you name it, it’s probably in the Hamptons. That’s why I look forward to my family’s summer trip to the Hamptons all year.

With that said, the Hamptons is so crowded every summer and it can be tough to find things to do/places to go if you don’t know where to look. This summer, that’s been even more difficult with restaurants running at 50% capacity and COVID-19 restrictions all around. Luckily, we have the inside scoop for our readers with some “Hamptons Hacks” that will help you to plan the end-of-summer getaway of your dreams.

Shopping “Hacks”

First, let’s address a subject very near and dear to me: SHOPPING! The shopping in the Hamptons is always fabulous, but often very expensive. However, over the years I’ve found some hidden Hamptons gems with cute clothes and affordable prices. These stores include:

Flashbacks in Sag Harbor – Flashbacks uses the comfiest materials for the perfect mix of fashion and comfort.

Kailani in Montauk – Kailani is such a cute boutique with unique pieces and great prices.

Shine in Montauk – Shine has gorgeous dresses and rompers. You may have to search around to find the cutest clothes in the boutique, but you won’t regret it once you find that perfect outfit.

Island Surf Shop in Westhampton – If you love the boho-chic surfer look, this store is for you!

Ruby & Jenna in Southampton – Ruby & Jenna always has such trendy clothes at prices that won’t break the bank.

Fun “Hacks”

There’s lots to do for fun in the Hamptons, but here are a few of my all-time favorites:

Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack – With delicious wine and gorgeous views at Wölffer, you really can’t go wrong. Pro tip: try to make a reservation online at least 4 days before you’re planning to go to the vineyard because time-slots fill up q…

Browse the Farmers’ Markets in East Hampton, West Hampton, Southampton, and Sag Harbor – You don’t have to look hard to find a Farmers’ Market in the Hamptons. They have fresh food, cute trinkets for sale, and the BEST aesthetics.

Beach “Hacks”

Because of the coronavirus, most popular Hamptons beaches (Ponquogue Beach, Mecox Beach, Tiana Beach) are only selling about 40 day passes each day Monday-Friday, and selling no day-passes on the weekend. This is important to know if you’re heading to the Hamptons because if you want to go to the beach, you should plan to go on a week-day and get up early to pick up your day pass. Most of these beaches start selling day passes at 9 AM.

Food “Hacks”

Finally, there are so many dining options in the Hamptons; however, they can also be crowded and quite pricey. I recommend these spots for food in the Hamptons:

  • LT Burger in Sag Harbor – DELICIOUS burgers and shakes at a great price (I’d recommend making a dinner reservation before you go)! I’d only ever eaten dinner here in the past, but this summer I actually stopped in for breakfast and my avocado toast was amazing (see below). Plus, there was no wait to get in.

  • Big Olaf’s in Sag Harbor — The best and most affordable ice cream shop in town!

  • World Pie in Bridgehampton — Amazing pizza with a great variety. World Pie is only open for takeout this summer because of COVID-19 but I would still recommend it if you don’t want to go out to dinner one night!

  • Tutto Il Giorno in Southampton & Sag Harbor —This Italian restaurant is expensive, but the ambience is unmatched and the pasta is incredible. (Make a reservation before you go.)

  • The Montauket in Montauk — Casual seafood/American restaurant with good food and an absolutely amazing waterfront view that gives you the true Montauk experience (see below).
