Walking Around Lower Manhattan in December 2020

Experience the beauty of the streets of Lower Manhattan during wintertime from wherever you are.

It seems that every single year on the day after Thanksgiving, storefronts and restaurants all over New York City are suddenly filled with holiday cheer. From garlands to bows to festive wreaths, Manhattan turns into a Christmas dream. Even during one of the most difficult years in history for businesses, many in NYC have shown an overwhelmingly positive outlook by continuing the annual tradition of decorating their storefronts for the holidays. While walking around my neighborhood, I get excited to pass my favorite festive shops each day. So I thought, why not highlight a stroll through the streets of West Village, NoHo, Nolita, Bowery, and SoHo? After all, the magic of this city during the holiday season must be shared as it is unmatched, even in 2020.

Little Cupcake Bake Shop

Whenever I’m in the mood for a slice of cake (which is just about every day), I stop by Little Cupcake Bake Shop on Prince St. for an incredible array of desserts. Plus, they do not disappoint with the decorations. They even have a Christmas tree!

Ulla Johnson

I absolutely love how Ulla Johnson decorated for the holidays this year. Not only is their storefront completely on brand, the wreath on the door is understated yet festive. Be sure to stop into the shop on Bleecker Street for the most beautiful Bohemian pieces.

Waverly Inn

There’s something special about walking around the West Village at nighttime in December. It must be a mixture of the ultra-cozy restaurants and Christmas trees in the windows of beautiful brownstones. This restaurant is a must-visit, and not only for their Christmas decorations. The food is to die for. In fact, I still think about my meal… it’s that good.

The Standard

Walk by the Standard Hotel on Bowery to see the cutest holiday village setup, complete with yurts and Christmas trees. For a moment, you feel like you’re very far away from the city.

Veronica Beard

The window in the Veronica Beard store in SoHo is so fun and eye catching. I love walking by the vibrant and fun vibe of this storefront each day on my way to work.
