Where to Travel Locally This Summer

Have you been feeling the urge to get away but just don’t have time for a full vacation? I’m right there with you. This summer, I plan to explore some of the most beautiful local spots around my hometown in Maryland. Do your research to find some awesome summer getaways near you!

Visit a local flower farm

Why not spend your day off in a flower field? Location scouting for our photoshoot with Lizzie Devanney was a little more difficult to do online, but it went smoothly. The highlight was discovering the gorgeous St. John Peony Farm in Havre de Grace, Maryland, which had just opened to the public that week.  The atmosphere was like something out of a fairytale. We had so much fun shooting and even had time to frolic in the flowers. We each left with a bouquet of peonies.

Experience a wine tasting at your local vineyard

You don’t need to travel to Napa Valley to experience the luxuries that a great wine tasting brings. We decided to treat ourselves to a day of sunshine and wine at Boordy Vineyards in Hyde, Maryland. We each ordered a Chesapeake Icons wine flight to test out a variety of locally grown reds and whites. We then ordered a few bottles of our favorites from the tasting. It was such a relaxing way to spend a sunny day!

No vineyards nearby or not too fond of wine? Check out your local brewery for a beer tasting instead!
