The Mountains are Calling and I Must Go

Looking to plan a post-quarantine vacay, but tired of your typical beachy destinations? There’s no better way to social distance than to escape out West to the mountains.

Last summer, I took a trip to Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho (sounds weird right?) and it ended up being one of my all-time fav trips ever. Here’s some reasons why you should give the mountains a chance:

Breathtaking Views Around Every Corner

One of my absolute favorite parts about this trip was as simple as driving along the highway. With every turn you take, you’ll be blessed with a new breathtaking view. Whether it be gigantic vibrant green trees, skyscraping mountains, or a dainty little river, mother nature is always showing off out West and you won’t be disappointed. Here are some of my most Instagrammable views from my trip.

The Most Amazing Hikes

Regardless of if you like hiking or not, you HAVE to give the trails out West a go. There are hiking trails for every level of expertise and they are the best way to get outside and enjoy some nature & fresh air. One of the coolest parts about these hikes is seeing the different forms of weather throughout. On a 70 degree day in Utah, I was able to see snow, and also get a tan—all during the same hike. You will also probably spot some wildlife while hiking too. Moose, buffalo, and elk were the most popular wildlife sightings while I was out West; however, you can see other wildlife depending on the time of year. *Be sure to bring a bottle of water and stay hydrated while hiking, because the elevation can change significantly on hikes out West*

The Cutest Towns to Explore

After a long day of driving on the curvy highways & hiking up the most gorgeous mountains, the best way to end the night is to explore some of the cute little towns that the West has to offer. On my trip I was able to visit the towns of Jackson Hole (WY), Park City (UT), and Salt Lake City (UT). These towns all feature delicious dining choices, places to shop, a fun bar scene, and even more breathtaking views (of course!).

P.S. Shopping out West gives you a perfect excuse to buy a fun pair of cowboy boots or a trendy western flannel to add to your closet.

I hope you’re leaving this piece feeling #inspired to swap out your bikini for some hiking shoes & to plan a trip out West! The mountains are calling and YOU must go
